I am writing a HSC report on whether or not religion contradicts science (vise versa) and if so whether or not this then affects the way people follow their belief systems.
I am Catholic myself, so I am able to think up evidence for the Christian and parts for the Jewish religions. (i.e. '7 days of creation vs. man was created by evolution', 'Jesus born by immaculate conception' & 'Moses parted the red sea' etc.) However I have never really had much exposure to any other major religions (i.e. Hindu, Buddhist or Islamic)
I was wondering if people could help me with getting evidence from other religious scriptures (e.g.: Torah etc.) that have been contradicted by modern scientific proofs or theories.
Although such discussions may offend people, anyone who can in post evidence of such contradictions from their religion, to include in my report I am in great debt to you.
Thanking you in advance,

Hello and thank you for giving me a moment of your busy schedule to read what could be the most important E-mail you have ever received.
If you have no idea about Islam, or you have a bad impression about Islam, without ever learning about Islam from its source, this message is for you.
First, I would like to recommend that you do not take a defensive position from this message. This message must not be considered an attack on your beliefs, a message that must be objected by all means. On the contrary, you are expected to deal with this message with objectivity, fairness, and open mind. This message is for your own worldly and eternal benefit if you give it serious consideration rather than facing it with swift emotional rejection. Let there be no mistake about it, your reaction to this message will likely decide your eternal fate (good or bad).
You are hereby invited to learn more about Islam, and to see for yourself why Islam is the religion of truth, the same religion that all messengers of God "Allah" were sent with, since the father of humanity Adam, followed by Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad, in addition to other messengers of God peace be upon them all.
Regardless of your religion, or your beliefs, Islam has a lot to offer you, and you have a lot to benefit and nothing to loose from Islam as God "Allah" said in the Quran: "We have verily sent you Mohammad' but a mercy to the creatures."
Contrary to almost all other religions, the more you know about Islam (and the Quran), the more you like it and the more you get convinced that it is not man-made. In Islam, every thing makes sense and we've got nothing to hide in the process of calling people to Islam. The more knowledgeable a person is in Islam, the stronger Muslim he becomes, contrary to people believing in other religions who, the more knowledgeable they become in their faith, the more convinced they get that it can not be God's pure word for the many contradictions, discrepancies, and historic and scientific mistakes they run into. You are invited to have a closer look at a religion that makes sense in every aspect and it is very comprehensive that it covers every aspect of the human's life.
Islam is the complete submission and obedience to God, the one God, Who has no partner. Nothing is like Him, He is the Creator, not created, nor a part of His creation. He is All-Powerful, absolutely Just, All-Knowing, All-Merciful, the Supreme, the Sovereign. There is no other entity worthy of worship besides Him. God has many names derived from his descriptions and one of those names is Allah. He sent His Messengers to guide all of mankind. God's book, the Qur'an, is the only authentic and flawless revealed book in the world.
"The doctrine of brotherhood of Islam extends to all human beings, no matter what color, race or creed. Islam is the only religion which has been able to realize this doctrine in practice. Muslims wherever on the world they are will recognize each other as brothers." Mr. R. L. Mellema, Holland, Anthropologist, Writer and Scholar.
Islam is a comprehensive, pure, clean, just, fair, reasonable, healthy, and responsible way of life. Islam has been sent for humanity at large and Islam guarantees those who follow Islam's commandments a better life and a better hereafter.
Human's life is not limited to the short span of earthly existence. On the day of judgement humans will be resurrected before Almighty Allah to face the consequences of their deeds in this life. Belief in human's accountability to Allah serves as a reminder against crime, corruption, immorality, and injustice.
Islam does not order, tolerate, or allow Muslims to force Non-Muslims to embrace Islam. On the contrary, Islam prohibits Muslims from that and orders Muslims to call for Islam and people have the choice to follow or reject it as long as they have been informed of the consequences of that decision. Allah says in the Qur'an:" Let there be no compulsion in religion, the right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejects false deities and believes in Allah has grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower"
Mohammed was sent as a messenger of God to deliver Islam to humanity. Mohammed was admired by almost every one who studied his life: "It is impossible for anyone who studies the life and character of the great Prophet of Arabia, who knows how he taught and how he lived, to feel anything but reverence for that mighty Prophet, one of the great messengers of the Supreme. And although in what I put to you I shall say many things which may be familiar to many, yet I myself feel whenever I re-read them, a new way of admiration, a new sense of reverence for that mighty Arabian teacher." –Annie Besant, THE LIFE AND TEACHINGS OF MUHAMMAD, Madras, 1932, p. 4.
The Qur'an is the Book that God revealed to prophet Mohammed. The Qur'an is a book that set the basis for the Islamic way of life. It is a comprehensive and perfected book that is admired by anyone who reads it regardless of his level of education. "I have read the Sacred Scriptures of every religion; nowhere have I found what I encountered in Islam: perfection. The Holy Qur'an, compared to any other scripture I have read, is like the Sun compared to that of a match. I firmly believe that anybody who reads the Word of Allah with a mind that is not completely closed to Truth, will become a Muslim." Saifuddin Dirk Walter Mosig, U. S.A. As a challenge to humanity, and one of the ever lasting proofs of the truth of the Qur'an, the Qur'an contained references to scientific facts that keep revealing that this book can not be from any one other than the creator of the universe. Professor Keith Moore, one of the world's prominent scientists of anatomy and embryology. University of Toronto, Canada:"It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Qur'aan about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God, or 'Allah', because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have been a messenger of Allah." Professor Yushudi Kusan: Director of the Tokyo Observatory, said, I can say, I am very much impressed by finding true astronomical facts in the Qur'an. Professor Alfred Kroner who is one of the world's most famous geologists: "Thinking about many of these questions and thinking where Muhammad came from, he was after all a bedouin. I think it is almost impossible that he could have known about things like the common origin of the universe, because scientists have only found out within the last few years with very complicated and advanced technological methods that this is the case."
Islam set the basis for a comprehensive way of life including moral, mental, health, social, political, economic, military, and other aspects of life. Islam orders Muslims to do every good and avoid every bad for the purpose of protecting the mental and physical health, honor, religion, and the property. Islam does not discriminate against any human regardless of his religion, language, color, age, gender, or any other attribute. In the Quran (49:13):"O mankind! We have created you from a male and female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you in the sight of Allah is the most pious. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing All-Aware."
Muslims believe in Allah as the only God worthy of worship; believe in his Angels; believe in his messengers without any discrimination between them; believe in the day of resurrection when humans are brought to life again in a different form to be judged according to their beliefs and deeds and get their rewards or punishment accordingly, and believe that every thing that happens in this life happens with the knowledge and permission of Allah.
Islam is built on 5 pillars (a must on every one to be practically Muslim): To bear witness that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammad is his Messenger (enough for the person to be considered Muslim); To pray 5 times a day (after dawn, after noon, before sunset, after sunset, and at night); To pay (if wealthy) about 2.5% of his/her liquid net worth annually to the poor and charitable organizations; To observe the fasting in the lunar month of Ramadan (abstain from food, drink, tobacco, sex, and bad acts and talk from dawn to sunset for 29-30 consecutive days); To perform pilgrimage to Mecca once in a lifetime if financially and physically able to do that.
The concept of worship in Islam is very comprehensive and unique. Every lawful deed a person does with the intention of pleasing Allah is considered an act of worship that the person is rewarded for. There is no separation between state and religion, and there is no distinction between personal, family, social, and other aspects of life. All of them go together and must be conducted in accordance with Islams rules and regulations.
I would like to tell you that on the day of resurrection the inheritance defense is not going to be acceptable. That you inherited a religion does not mean much in terms of truth and the lack of it. Every day thousands of religions and faiths are passed from fathers to children, only one of those is right and it is every person's responsibility to make sure he got the religion of truth or change what he has inherited if he/she did not inherit the religion of truth.
I would like to tell you also that every one that did not follow the religion of truth will be asked about the effort he/she made to get to the truth. If you feel comfortable with the level of effort you made to find the truth and you believe that you found it, I would like to congratulate you after urging you to reconsider while you can because once the person dies the chance is over.
Having said that I would like to finish my message with a reminder that this is a very serious issue that must not be taken lightly. Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) said that any one who hears about him and does not believe in him is going to end up in the hellfire.
This message was not meant to give, and could not have given Islam the complete description it deserves, so please give God "Allah" a few minutes of the Millions of minutes He has given you and see for yourself why Islam is (or may be is not!) for you. You owe it to yourself!

I call Christianity the one great curse, the one great intrinsic depravity, the one great instinct for revenge for which no expedient is sufficiently poisonous, secret, subterranean, petty — I call it the one mortal blemish of mankind. [Select]
Friedrich Nietzsche
However I think of Christianity as herpes of the human kind. It can be harmless enough but turns ugly if left untreated. Humanity has contracted it cca. 2000 years ago and it still keeps comming back. Kathryn
